Objective
Complete five connected chips of one colour vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. With two teams, make two sequences; with three, make one.
Components
- Wooden game board
- 150 chips: 50 each of three colours
- One large storage bag
- You also need a standard deck of cards, not included in the box.
Setup
- Place the board with room for the deck and discards.
- Two or three people may play individually, one colour each. With more than three players, form two or three equal teams; the player count must divide evenly by the number of teams. Never use more than three teams.
- Seat two teams with colours alternating around the table. With three teams, alternate every third seat.
- Everyone cuts for dealer; lowest card deals, with aces high. Teammates share one chip colour.
- Deal seven cards each with two players, or six cards each with three or four players.
Taking a turn
- Play a card to your discard pile and place a chip on an open matching card space on the board.
- Each card appears twice; use either open matching space.
- Draw a replacement card.
Chips remain unless a one-eyed Jack removes them. A completed sequence cannot be broken.
Jacks
- Two-eyed Jack: Wild. Place a chip on any open space.
- One-eyed Jack: Remove one opponent’s chip, except a chip in a completed sequence. Do not place a chip on that turn.
Dead cards, draws, and table talk
If both spaces for a card are covered, discard it, announce “dead card,” and draw a replacement. You may do this once per turn. Draw after placing a chip; if the next player acts and draws before you do, you lose your draw. Do not coach teammates: if a player advises a teammate, every teammate discards a card. When the deck runs out, shuffle the discards into a new deck.
Winning
The first player or team to complete the required sequences wins. Spaces used in the first sequence may count again in the second.
