Objective
Play each hole from Tee to Green in as few strokes as possible. The lowest total after the chosen holes wins.
Components
- Wooden game board
- One six-sided die
- Thirteen marking pegs: three sets of four, plus a scoring peg
- One medium storage bag
Setup
- Place the board where everyone can reach it. Choose a single hole, the Front 9, the Back 9, or all 18.
- Every player starts at the Tee. Highest roll plays first.
- Set the tracking peg to the hole being played.
Playing a hole
- From the Tee, roll the die and move to the area shown by the Tee legend. Record one stroke.
- From wherever you land—Fairway, Rough, Chip, Sand, Water, or Green—roll again and read that area’s legend.
- Each roll is one stroke. Keep rolling and moving until you reach the Green.
- On the Green, roll once more. The result shows whether you hole out in one, two, or three putts. Add that many strokes.
- Record your score for the hole and move the tracking peg to the next one.
Scoring and hazards
- Every roll: one stroke.
- Water: one penalty stroke in addition to the roll. Play your next shot from the Water legend, which acts as the drop zone.
- Sand and Rough: no penalty; play out using that area’s legend.
Lowest total wins. An eagle is two under par, birdie one under, bogey one over, and double bogey two over.
Variations
- Short game: Play a single hole or the Front 9.
- Two dice: Roll two dice for a wider spread of results. Doubles take a stroke off that hole. A second die is not included.
- Risk roll: Once per hole, reroll a result; you must keep the new one.
- Gimme putt: Reach the Green at or under par and the putt counts as a single putt.
